Position Your Boudie Business for Steamy Hot Success

The first step in positioning your boudoir business for hot, steamy success is to map out your goals
. Goals are an end result in which you are working to achieve. They are an important marker to have set in order to keep you focused, driven, and successful. I’m sure at this very moment you have a couple goals in your head. The mistake I see most boudoir photographers making though isn’t that they don’t have goals at all. It’s that they don’t have well thought out, concrete, and mapped out goals. These goals are what is going to position your business down a steady path for profit and success.

When I first started my business I could be best described as getting pushed down a kiddie slide, falling into a ball pit and then trying to claw my way out. I wasn’t organized, I didn’t have a goals, a plan, and my “vision” was one single thing, “make money doing what I love.” Although technically that is a goal, it wasn’t detailed enough. With my one goal of “making money doing what I love,” I actually booked many shoots. In fact, I booked any shoot that came my way. As you would guess I got super busy. I was so busy that I didn’t have any time to work ON my business. I was too busy working IN my business. I was tired, over worked, no longer enjoying my business and I wasn’t making much of a profit due to my lack of planning and vision. I thought to myself “is this really want I want?” Is it the money that is driving me? I couldn’t even remember.

What I did next changed the entire course of my business. I made a list of my personal goals, business goals, and financial goals. These goals were the start to a rock solid business plan. It’s crazy what you find out about yourself and what you truly want when you spend 10-20 minutes of your time listing your goals. Turns out, my goal wasn’t to “make money doing what I love.”

My TRUE and PERSONAL goals were to: travel, spend time with family/friends, be happy, have time to myself, be an artist, have a business I’m proud of, make women feel beautiful, etc. etc. Obviously I want my business to make money but it wasn’t just “money” that I wanted. I wanted a profitable business so I could achieve the goals I listed above.

Once I took the time to assess my true goals it became so much clearer to me the path my business needed to go down. I also became more motivated and used my time more wisely. My goals served as my new motivating boss. Take the time you deserve to assess your true personal, business, and financial goals. Don’t forget that there is no limit, so dream big!

When your goals are in place it’s much easier for you to then be able to create a road map to achieving those goals. Let your goals motivate you and steer you down that map you’ve created. When you have worked out a path to achieving those goals there is nothing that can get in your way.
