Can you make it as a full-time portrait photographer?

I want to answer this question that I get asked a lot, and that is, “Molly, can I actually make it as a full-time photographer?” Yes. Yes, you can.

Now, I know you’re probably thinking, “Well, that’s so easy for you just to say yes. How do I actually do it?” So, here’s what I can tell you. First of all, I do videos like this every, single day, so make sure you go and like and follow Boudie Shorts, so you can learn more of these tips, which is going to lead you to being able to do this full-time. The second thing I could tell you is that I’ve been in this industry for over 11 years. I’ve seen a lot of photographers, you know, make it. I’ve seen a lot of photographers not make it, and they all have a lot of things in common, the ones that make it, right?

And really, it comes down to taking their business seriously, setting work hours, learning how to properly market and sell, and really, it really, truly comes down to taking it seriously, carving out the time, and learning. You have to learn from people who have done this before. Like, there’s no way around it. Like, I like to use this analogy. If you wanted to be an Olympian, and you wanted to earn a gold medal, what would you do?

A lot of you are probably thinking, “Practice. I would practice, Molly.” But really what you would do is you would hire a coach, because if you practice, you’re only going to get as good as, like, the first person who ever entered in that category in the Olympics.  What hiring a coach does is it’s going to catch you up on all the best strategies, and you’re going to implement new ones.

That’s exactly what happens. You need to learn from someone who is where you want to be right now. Otherwise, you’re just simply reinventing the wheel. Like I said, go like and follow Boudie Shorts on Facebook, because I do videos like this every single day. Yes, you absolutely, 100% can make it full-time in photography, and I would love to help you get there.

I would love to share more free tips with you over at Boudie Shorts on Facebook, so comment “Full-time” below this video if you are ready to go full-time, if you believe in yourself, if you are just so, so, so ready to be done with your other job and to do photography full-time.

Tag any of your friends that you think would benefit from this pep talk video, and again, be sure to like and follow Boudie Shorts so I can tell you all the other strategies.  Go check them out, because all of them have all the secrets to getting you to full-time!
