How To Set Goals In Your Photo Business So That You Crush Them

Now today, I'm talking to you, yes, you, you awesome photographer you. And I wanna talk to you about how to set goals that you can actually crush them. Who's excited?

A lot of you guys get really excited and you're like, “I'm gonna do six figures, I'm gonna do … you know, $300,000 or I'm gonna do $60,000.” Or whatever it is. And you write that number down and then that's pretty much where it ends. I don't know about you guys but at least that's what I had done in the past when I was first getting started.

But you actually have to get way more detailed than that in order to actually see results. So I'm gonna take you through a really quick goal planning strategy exercise and I want you to tag any of your friends below that you think could benefit from this as well.

So here we go:

The first thing I want you to do is I want you to create a list of every single possible way that you could achieve whatever your goal is. So maybe, it's a financial goal or it's a goal booking x amount of clients, right? And then I want you to write down every single way that you could get there. Maybe it's having an event, maybe it is booking clients through building your email list or building your many chat list or running Facebook ads or things like that, right? I want you to write that all down, okay?

And then I want you just to plan on working on your next 90 days. So I want you to say, “Okay, what can you get done in that list in 90 days?” And then I want you to take it down and say, “Okay, what can you get done in 30 days?” And then once you have your 30 days, maybe it's like two to six different things that you wanna get done in that 30 day period, then I want you to break it down. So for example, maybe one thing you wanna get done in the 30 day period is to have a trade show booth, right? So what I want you to do is each of the two to six things you're gonna do in that 30 day period, I want you to put underneath there what all needs to get done.

So if you're doing a trade show booth, you need to write down: booking the booth, finding someone to help me with the booth, printing out marketing materials.

And then I want you to do that for all two to six different things that you wanna get done in that 30 day period. And then I want you to keep repeating this process throughout the year so you can actually reach your goals and figure out what's realistic and what's not realistic in a certain timeframe.
