I wanted to share one of my favorite tips for you on how to accomplish more in less time in your photography business. Are you guys excited?
Here is my tip for you. I want to tell you, to cheal, that's teach and tell at the same time, by the way, I wanted to teach you about the use of time studies. About three weeks ago, I did a time study where every 15 minutes, I know this might sound tedious, but every 15 minutes I wrote down in an Excel Spreadsheet what I worked on and did for those 15 minutes. Literally, for two full weeks I did this time study. At the end of each day, I would write down where I spent most of my time. Was it on my business, or myself, or my family, and what things in my business I spend the most time on. Wow! It was eye opening to see like, “Man, if I just did less of this or more of that or if I did those things together and I bashed them together, wow, I think it's so much more done in my day.”
Really you're self-assessing your business and what it is you're that working on. You're going to find out how much time you're spending talking on Facebook, or how much time you're spending on Netflix, or how much time you're spending hanging on on your cell phone every single morning before you get up.
I really, really want to urge you guys to do this tip, to use this, to do a time study for yourself. For two weeks, write down what you do in every 15 minutes, and then self-assess. Look at that assessment and see where you can improve and how you can get or accomplish more in less time.
